Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce’s Savage remix could make Grammy history

Since Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce’s track “Savage” jumped to the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, the pair have been tipped as hot contenders for the Best Rap Performance Grammy award.

If they are nominated in the category it would mark the first time in 23 years that an all-female collaboration received this recognition.

The last time a woman was nominated for Best Rap Performance was back in 1997 when Lil Kim’s “Not Tonight” featuring Left Eye, Da Brat, Missy Elliott and Angie Martinez was put forward.

Beyonce has been nominated for a total of 70 Grammys, more than any other female artist. She needs just 11 more nominations to surpass Quincy Jones as the most nominated person in Grammy history.

So far the “Partition” singer has only received nominations for singing. Four of those nominations came in collaboration with husband Jay-Z, with the rest provided by Kendrick Lamar, André 3000, Kanye West and the team-up of T.I. and Lil Wayne.

Last week, Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj’s remix of “Say So” reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100, giving both artists their first ever number one.

With “Savage” in the second spot, it was the first time rap tracks by female artists were in the top two spaces.

Though “Say So” is a strong Grammy contender, this would likely be in the Best Rap/Sung performance category as opposed to Rap.
